Zone C Lobster Hatchery Update
 

    
     Almost 40,000 lobsters were released in 2006—the shakedown year for the Zone C Lobster Hatchery: The stage IV lobsters were released on good habitat that fishermen from Zone C identified. A lot was learned about growing lobsters and their food in the hatchery. Fishermen and scientists met in April to plan how to track the releases and Dr. Rick Wahle of Bigelow Laboratory led the dive team working from fishermen’s boats. Attendees came to hear the ups and downs of the first year, saw a video of the releases, and heard about plans for next year.
