The United States Coast Guard was very active in the
Forum this year. From survival training to helicopter tours, from the
District Admiral to the Petty Officers - these professionals made us proud.
Excerpts of article by Janice M. Plante, Commercial Fisheries News, April 2007
The Coast Guard sent two helicopters to the Forum, an HH-65 Dolphin from Air
Station Atlantic City, NJ and an HH-60 Jayhawk from Air Station Cape Cod.
Enthusiastic helicopter crews provided tours of the aircraft, explained
search and rescue procedures, and demonstrated use of onboard equipment
(including a live hoist)
The Coast Guard also manned a booth, participated in
seminars, and hosted survival suit and liferaft training in the Samoset's
pool, where Rear Admiral Timothy Sullivan, Commander First Coast Guard
District, got into the water himself for a demo.
