Advances in Mussel Aquaculture Machinery
Experiences from France
 

    
     Mechanization has greatly improved the quality and cost effectiveness of processing aquaculture produced mussels. A representative from the French company Cochon was here to show of some of the innovative machines and processing gear developed in France. Following this presentation, Carter Newell presented a 5 minute video illustrating the current processing technology in use for raft cultured mussels in Maine. A roundtable discussion among mussel growers followed to determine the needs of this growing sector of Maine’s aquaculture industry.
