Collaborative Northeast Groundfish Tagging Program
Preliminary Results and Potential Applications
 

    
     Tagging studies in the Northeast region have proven to be a valuable and effective form of collaborative research involving large numbers of commercial and recreational fishermen and scientists.  Research partnerships established between industry and science throughout the region have facilitated the collection of quality information on movement, migration and mortality for some of New England’s key commercial Groundfish species, including Atlantic cod, Yellowtail flounder and Atlantic haddock.  Preliminary analysis of these data is underway and researchers will be discussed how these tagging data will be incorporated into stock assessments and management plans.
