Diversification of Fisheries
How Can We Get Back to Being Fishermen instead of Lobstermen, Scallopers, Groundfishermen, etc.?
 

     Dare we think about being fishermen again, not locked into single fisheries?  One thing most fishermen agreed on at the Forum’s Thursday session last year was that their business would be better and the resources might be healthier if they could do a mix of types of fishing again.  Before it is too late, let’s start the conversation in Maine with fishermen who remember when…and those who are hard up against the problems of only one fishery.  Big and small, East and West, small steps could be started forward building back diversified fishing.
