The Northeast Regional Cod Tagging Program
Results from the first two years and how they can be used
 

     By December 2004, the Northeast Regional Cod Tagging Program had tagged its goal of over 100,000 cod throughout the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank.  What have we learned from two years of tagging cod?  What can we expect from this data as more returns happen in the coming years?  How will it be used?  The strength of the information lies in the number of tag returns we receive.  How can we encourage tag returns?  Attendees learned how reporting a tagged cod will help the fishing industry.
