Maine Softshell Clam Advisory Council
 

     Thursday’s “Clam Day” seminar featured a panel discussion on municipal shellfish enforcement.  Law enforcement officials from Downeast, Midcoast and Southern Maine explored the varying types of shellfish law enforcement in our state.  Attendees learned what their challenges were in these different regions of Maine in enforcing municipal ordinances, working with municipal budgets, public relations and public health issues.  They explored and discussed what can be done to improve and strengthen law enforcement in our municipalities for shellfish enforcement in the softshell clam industry.
