Maine Lobstermen’s
Association celebrated their 50th Anniversary this year. The celebration
ncluded members of the Maine Congressional Delegation and State Legislature.
The Honorable Governor John E. Baldacci was slated as the keynote speaker,
but was "fogged in" at the airport. Former President Eddie Blackmore,
Clayton Howard, and other prominent players from MLA’s past shared some
stories of MLA’s triumphs and tribulations. There was plenty of surprises
and prizes galore for MLA members, as well as a free membership raffle for
2003 V-notch survey participants!!!! Finally, they conducted their business
meeting including the election of Directors and Officers. Fifty years is
quite an accomplishment for any organization; but it is all the more
impressive within the fishing industry.
