Dealer and Harvester Reporting in Maine
 

     Fishermen and dealers often express concerns over the information collected in landings reports and question its completeness.  Maine DMR and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) will be implementing new reporting regulations in 2004.  The panel discussed reasons and benefits for trip level reporting and demonstrated SAFIS (Standard Atlantic Fisheries Information System), a new web-based electronic reporting system.  The panel focused on how they will collect more comprehensive and timely data.
