There
has been considerable discussion in the last year regarding the use of
artificial lobster bait and its effects, if any, on lobster health and
lobster markets worldwide. A recent vote by DMR’s Lobster Advisory Council
overwhelmingly requested these products be phased out of use in Maine’s
waters. The Department led a discussion of all the issues that people see,
both pro and con, regarding the use of artificial lobster bait.
