Access to Fisheries and Community Based Management
 

     Is rebuilding coastal fisheries a possibility?  A farce?  A dream?  And who’s doing it? What is the science?  The economics?  What are the possibilities? Fishermen have lost access to many fisheries that used to provide them a diversified income.  You are a part of the answer.  Attendees joined an open discussion of how we build back and keep coastal fisheries to expand our options. This session explored how community based management can be used to regain lost access for fishermen in Maine coastal communities through sharing what is already being done, the lessons learned, and the ideas for the future.  We can’t wait for someone else to do this for us.
